Pre and post workout routines

As part of the September blogging writing challenge, I will be writing posts each day based on a topic given (just like last month)!

Today’s Yesterday’s topic is to share your pre and post workout routines.

I don’t really have a routine per se.  Today I have a planned spin class at 5:30.  So by now (3pm) I want to make sure I’ve eaten (check), had coffee (check), and am dressed to go (check).  I usually leave 45-60 minutes before class since I want to make sure I get there on time with no issues (subway) and sometimes I need to run an errand on the way so I make sure I have plenty of time.

When I get to the gym I unload my stuff into my locker, grab what I need (Polar HRM, towel, water, spin cushion), pee, wet my HRM strap, and then head to the spinning studio.  I like to get in there 15-30 minutes before class (if I can) to pick a bike, make sure it isn’t rocky, set it up for my height, and warm up.  Sometimes this means switching bikes a few times until I find one that works.

My post workout routine is: throw everything back in my bag, walk to the subway (or in this case today, the bus, since the subway closes at 6 on Sunday), (sometimes stop at the grocery store), walk home, flop on the sofa.  Then I eat dinner and shower.  Not very exciting, is it?  I’ve I’ve weight trained I make sure I have a protein shake when I get home if I am not eating right away.

So there you have it.  What are your pre and post workout routines?

The subway ride is only 4 stops, about 7 minutes and then a 7 minute walk. I pretty much have nothing but time, so I’m not losing anything by doing it. It’s about a 45 minute walk one way, so if it is nice out or I have no money I walk. 🙂

Yea I was thinking the same thing. I love your dedication

Thanks! It might seem like it is a lot of time to get there, but it is more my crazy issue of having to be everywhere at least 15 minutes early, minimum. I hate being late! When I am just lifting weights or doing cardio, it isn’t as “structured,” and it’s only a 7 minute subway ride and then a 7 minute walk to the gym.
