Days 3 and 4 of “Paleo”

Yesterday I woke up tired and grumpy (the usual).  I made an iced coffee and tried to wake up.  Steph made breakfast; bacon and eggs, and I steamed some spinach.  Yum!

After, we went for a walk, but I felt kind of off and lightheaded, so I came back home to get some things done.  (Which totally meant I sat online and read and did all the things I shouldn’t be doing.)

Finally, I realized that I hadn’t really eaten since breakfast so I made a protein shake.

For dinner, I had grilled chicken with tomatoes and feta on a bed of steamed spinach and a baked sweet potato.  Once again, I got really full by the end of the meal and wasn’t able to finish my potato.  Weird.  Usually I have no problems eating all my food.

Of course this meant I was starving the second I wanted to go to bed.  In fact, I tried to get to sleep earlier since I had to be up REALLY early today, but ended up listening to the first inning of the Sox game.

I slept really poorly and woke up every few hours.  I hate that.  Any night I don’t have to be up early, I sleep really well.  If I know I need to be up at a certain time, I wake up every 2 hours.

 I had to get up early and go to a physio appointment for my knee.  It’s been hurting a lot more lately so I made an appointment to have it looked at.  Appointments for 8:30am should be outlawed.  (Yes, I know I sound entitled and whiny, but really, I am NOT at my best on little sleep and at half eight in the morning.)

The physio checked over my knee and found that there was a slight muscle imbalance.  I’m to do some exercices for the next 2 weeks and go back and see how I am doing.  I can totally feel it in my knee right now.  It is pretty sore.

After the appointment I was planning on getting coffee and going to the office, but I knew when I couldn’t get out of bed that that was not going to happen.  I came back home and went back to sleep.

When I finally (was rudely woken by the Royal mail) woke up I was tired and cranky. (Shocking.)  I made a protein shake with added coffee to wake up.

Steph made me a spinach and cheddar omelette for breakfast.  It was SO good.

2013-04-04 13.04.14I was tired and cranky, but I dragged myself off to the gym.  We walked there, and stopped for coffee.  I had an iced whole milk latte.  I added a little cinnamon to it.  I am having such a hard time without adding 600 splenda/stevia packets to it.  I love my coffee creamy and sweet!

Today was another StrongLifts day.  I really struggled on the bench press, which is odd, because it is usually my best lift.  I think I could have used more calories/carbs before I went to the gym.  I was seriously lacking in energy.

After the gym, we ran a few errands and I took the subway home.  My knee had had enough activity for the day!

I was so excited to get home because I was STARVING.  I ate a Fage yogurt cup with a little honey and made a protein shake.

Dinner has been spaced out.  I had a salad and some steamed brussel sprouts so far.  I was planning on having some chicken, but once again, I’ve lost my appetite.  I have a wicked headache, so I might just call it a night.

I need to go to the office tomorrow to take care of some things before Monday’s conference, so hopefully I will get a good night’s sleep tonight!

    Love that you had sauteed spinach for breakfast! 😀 I never used to be a morning person, in fact I timed it pretty much that I could sleep in until 30 minutes before I had to be to work (short commute then, only 10 minutes, which helped!)

    Now? I get up at 6:30 and don’t have to leave for work until 8:10 – an hour and 40 minutes is a long time to get shit done and I love it because it’s just me – I wake my husband for the day when I leave – its my ME time. 😀

    Being a post grad student has made me lazy, but I am the most rested I’ve been in my entire life since I can sleep when I am tired and wake up when I am rested (for the most part).

    I had steamed extra spinach so I could add it to omelettes or just have as a side and it wouldn’t take any extra time at all. 🙂
